27 Sep - 4 Oct 2024: A small expedition aimed to watch the new comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) will be organised by by Valentin Grigore (SARM) and Astro Travels on La Palma island. The announcement (in Romanian) here.

17-30 Jun 2023: The ninth Romanian expedition of SARM was hosted by Astro Travels on La Palma, el Hiero (new) and Tenerife islands, being attended by 27 people. Some memories here.

17-21 Nov 2022: A brief expedition to La Palma during Leonids meteor shower by Valentin Grigore (SARM) and George Tanase was supported with some equipment provided by Astro Travels and AstroFarm. Some memories here. The shower outburst predicted by some new model was infirmed.

23-30 Jul 2022: The Swedish Astronomisk Ungdom society in La Palma! Lead by Prof. Mikael Ingemyr, a group of 10 amateur astronomers from Sweeden visited La Palma. They intend to establish a "base" on the island, in collaboration with AstroFarm where they plan to install a telescope and bring groups each year. Some memories of their trip here.

14-27 May 2022: Following two canceled attempts due to Covid, finally the 8-th Romanian expedition lead by Valentin Grigore (SARM) took place for almost two weeks in La Palma, plus one day transfers in Tenerife and Barcelona. Some memories here.

3-16 Nov 2018: The seventh Romanian expedition organised by SARM and Astro Travels tool place in Fuerteventura, La Palma and Tenerife! This trip was in celebration of the 25-th anniversary of the SARM, the national astronomy organisation fonded in 1993 by Valentin Grigore in Targoviste. Some memories here.

29 Feb 2016: Swiss "Yverdon-les-Bains" college students visit the ORM. Lead by Prof. Huub Verhagen, a group of 23 young college students from Switzerland took part in a science training trip which included 3 nights camping in the cold winter mountains of La Palma! During one day, the group visited the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, and here are some memories of their trip.

18 May 2015: Starlight meeting in La Palma! A short dark sky meeting took place in the Hotel Las Olas, La Palma, featuring international participation from Romania, USA, Canada and Netherlands and live webcast, with the aim to establish the starlight conference in 2016 in La Palma.

May 2015: The fifth SARM Romanian expedition in La Palma! Organized by the Romanian Society of Meteors and Astronomy (SARM), the fifth expedition in La Palma and Tenerife took place between 11-23 May 2015 in two packages. Some memories about meeting old and making new friends, here.

Dec 2014: The AMOS project back at ORM observatory! A group of 4 Slovak researchers lead by Dr. Juraj Toth returned for their second expedition at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM). The visit included a meeting with ORM administration regarding the AMOS project to install two permanent meteor observing stations in La Palma and Tenerife. Update 2015: The AMOS project succeeded in installing two permanent cameras at ORM and OT observatories, acc to their website.

Nov 2014: The Japanese Phoenicids expedition in La Palma! A group of 12 Japaneses attended an expedition to observe the Phoenicids meteor shower and visit the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM). The group included Dr. Juniki Watanabe (NAOJ), Dr. Emeritus Junji Nakamura (University of Tokyo, discoverer of this meteor shower), the NHK national television and other people from Kawasaki Science Museum, Nippon Meteor Society and other amateur astronomers. May 2014: The fourth SARM Romanian expedition in La Palma! Organized by Astro Travels for the Romanian Society of Meteors and Astronomy (SARM), the fourth expedition in La Palma and Tenerife took place between 23 May - 4 June 2014 in three packages. May 2014: Astro Travels to sponsor the the Spanish CEA 2014! The 21st edition of the Spanish National Congress of Astronomy (CEA) will take place in 1-4 May 2014 in Granada. The winner of the video time-lapse category of the astro-photography contest of this meeting will attend a visit in La Palma and Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), sponsored by Astro Travels. Read the announcement in Spanish here. Jan 2015: The winner Victor Gonzales visited ORM (INT, WHT and GTC telescopes).

April 2014: Comenius University (Bratislava) expedition in La Palma and Tenerife! Four Slovak astronomers, namely Drs. Juraj Toth, Pavel Zigo, Leonard Kornos and Josef Vilagi, participated between 2-9 April 2014 in an expedition to observe meteors in double station from Canary Islands La Palma and Tenerife. The motivation was double and we hope to continue this collaboration. Few memories here.

Nov 2013: The Nordic Science School again in La Palma! More than 50 Finish high school students and professors lead by Dr. Rami Rekola attended this second school organized by Astro Travels, which included a visit in Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory and observations on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT).

Nov 2013: Third Romanian SARM expedition in La Palma! Lead by Valentin Grigore and Attila Munzlinger, 27 members and friends of the Romanian Society for Meteors and Astronomy (SARM) attended 10 day expedition in La Palma and Tenerife, which included few astronomy nights and one in Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory. Nov 2012: The Nordic Science School in La Palma! About 50 Finish high school students and professors lead by Dr. Rami Rekola attended this first school organized by Astro Travels, observing on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT).

Sep 2012: The International Meteor Conference (IMC 2012) in La Palma! 110 participants from 25 countries attended this international astronomy meeting organized by Astro Travels for the International Meteor Organization (IMO), with the sponsorship of Cabildo de La Palma (our insular authority). Oct 2010: First Romanian SARM expedition in La Palma! 25 amateur astronomers and friends participated in the first Romanian Astronomical Society for Meteors and Astronomy (SARM) expedition in La Palma and Tenerife, lead by Valentin Grigore and Catalin Paduraru.
